A Message from the President of the Board

Dear Theater Enthusiasts,

What a privilege it is to serve as President of the Hartsville Community Players.  Since my election in January, I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support I have received from you, our patrons and friends.  I am excited about what the Board has in store for the Players over the 2013 season, and we look forward to your continued involvement and support of our organization. 

Established in 1971, the Hartsville Community Players has been bringing quality theater experiences to the Hartsville and surrounding community for over 40 years.  As we launch our 42nd season, the Board of Directors has developed the following four agenda items on which to focus to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our organization:    

  • Confirm seasons dates and show selections at least 2 years out 
  • Refresh print & on-line image 
  • Revamp bylaws to reflect current practice
  • Expand board to include additional constituents

As you know, strategic planning with a group can be messy at times; but, it is essential for the health and success of our organization.  We appreciate your patience as we work to improve the Players for our actors, audiences, supporters, and friends.   I look forward to updating you periodically on our progress. 

Whether you enjoy our performances from the back of the house or from center stage, we appreciate your continued support of the work the Players are doing.  I encourage you to get involved with HCP at whatever level you feel most comfortable and partner with us to continue our strong celebration of the art of theater.  I hope to see you soon.
